Junior Lady Dillos win season opener

The San Saba Junior Lady Dillos (6th grade girls) began the 2009 season with a 31-6 victory over Lampasas. The Lady Dillos opened up with a sluggish 8-0 first quarter lead and then came alive and added 14 points in the second quarter to take a 22-0 halftime lead.

Tori Bauerschlag led the Lady Dillos in scoring with 10 points followed by McKenna Maxcey with 8 points and Ashlyn Turner with 7 points. Hailey Osbourn, Joy Trujillo and Kayla Novak added 2 points each.Bauerschlag, Osbourn, Novak, Leigh Riggs and Mercedes Hensley played well defensively.

The Lady Dillos will be playing a double header this Saturday, Jan. 31st, in Lampasas. The first game is set for 11:00 a.m. against Marble Falls and 3:00 p.m. against Lampasas.

After two practices the San Saba 5th & 6th grade boys traveled to Burnet and pulled out a 24-12 win over Lampasas. The Dillos took a 17-10 halftime lead and then came out in the second half and played very well defensively to shut out Lampasas in the third quarter and only allow 2 points in the entire second half to seal the win.

Garrett Welch led the Dillos with 10 points followed by Holt Oliver, John Faught and John Welch who had 4 points each while Logan Guidroz added 2 points.

Faught, Garrett Welch, Ridge Smith, Brendon Bush and Carter Eden led the Dillos defensively. The Dillos will travel to Lampasas this Saturday, Jan. 31st, for a 10:00 a.m. tip off against Burnet.
