Thursday, February 28, 2013 • Posted February 27, 2013

The early church had a fantastic start. 3000 people were baptized at the teaching of Peter on the Day of Pentecost for the remission of their sins. The churches had all things in common. Then, Peter and John heal a crippled man at the gate called beautiful.

However, the chief priest, rulers, the Sadducees and the teachers of the law were greatly disturbed about the teaching of the young church regarding the resurrection of the dead. So they arrested Peter and John and kept them in prison overnight. Then they told them to stop teaching in the name of Jesus.

Acts 4:19-20: But Peter and John replied, "Judge for your selves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard." Opposition did not stop the church, in courage they continued on.
