Past, Present and Future

I guess it was in grade school that I was first exposed to verb tenses. There we learned that a verb could be for things in the past, or things in the present, or something in the future. Thinking about that reminds me of something in the Bible. There are a lot of verses speaking about sin but there are a lot of verses speaking about forgiveness. If we think we have no sin, the Bible says we are liars, (1 John 1:8). We cannot trust ourselves because our hearts and thoughts can be wrong or lead us astray, (Jeremiah 17:9).

The only thing we can trust and put sure confidence in is God's Word, the Bible, (John 8:32, 17:17). Sin that is not dealt will lead to eternal separation from God, (Romans 3:23 & 6:23). But if we are willing to acknowledge or confess our sins to God, we can find forgiveness, (Ephesians 1:1-8, 1 John 1:9). We must first accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, (Romans 5:8). It is through Jesus Christ, by His shed blood that we can find forgiveness, (Isaiah 1:18, Hebrews 9:14, 1 John 1:7).

When we are found in Christ, the beautiful thing is that not only our past sins are forgiven, but the present and the future, (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:20, Jude 1:21, 24&25). Yes, there is sin, but there is forgiveness with God, He loves us, (John 3:16). See you in Church next Sunday.
