County Commissioners approve grant application

The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, February 25th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge, Byron Theodosis called the Court to order and welcomed everyone. County Commissioner, Rickey Lusty gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

The Commissioners mapped out their precinct lines for Jason Hendrick, Easement Coordinator, Central Texas Telephone Cooperative, Inc. This would allow CTTC to contact them when they bury the cable for fiberoptics in their precinct.

Approval was given for a Conservation Contract in Precinct 1 to P. Mullinex and Roy Boswell.

County Coordinator, Marsha Hardy explained the renewal agreement in the amount of $750 for the Hazard Mitigation Plan. The renewal was approved. Resolution 2013 between the Texas Colorado River Floodplain Coalition and San Saba County was approved.

County Sheriff, Steve Boyd presented an application for a Justice Assistant Grant (JAG) to purchase the following equipment: two equipped vehicles, digital cameras, three computers, binoculars and other equipment totalling $80,000. The Sheriff was commended for his initiative, and the Grant application for the full amount of $80,000 (no matching county funds) was approved by the Court.

Approval was given to repair the two historic chimneys on the Courthouse roof. Agrant will pay 50% and will use the remaining funds from the roof repair for this project.

The Court appointed County Attorney, Randy Robinson to be the liaison between San Saba County, City of San Saba, and the City of Richland Springs, to explore joint operations for Animal Control.

The Burn Ban will remain lifted.

The Accounts Payables presented by County Treasurer, Lois VanBeck were approved. Patricia Pratt, EMS Director, reported 13 calls from Friday, Feb. 22nd to Monday, Feb. 25th. Two ambulances are out of commission, and only one being available until they are repaired.

The next Commissioners Court will be held Monday, March 11th at 9 a.m. Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting.
