Montoya and Cromer chosen to participate in All-Star Festival

Diego Montoya and Karlee Cromer of San Saba High School have been chosen as part of the football and cheer squad to participate in the 14th annual Big Country Chevy Dealers Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Festival. Parents are: Ernesto & Rosa Montoya and Maarten & Deanne Cromer.

They are two of the over 200 area student athletes selected for the games that benefit the Big Country Area Office of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Representing approximately 50 area schools, the rosters for the North and South squads were announced at a Press Conference on Sunday, February. 17, 2013 at Beltway Park Baptist Church in Abilene, TX.

These All-Stars were nominated by their head coaches for the games, which features schools from an approximate 100-mile radius of Abilene covering 36 counties.

Representatives from Class A-5A make up the squads. Basketball players and cheerleaders will report for two-a-day workouts in Brownwood on Tuesday, June 4th while the football and volleyball squads and their cheerleaders will report on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in Abilene. There will be lots of activities that they will be involved in during that time and will all be honored at an Induction Banquet on April 21st, at the Abilene Civic Center.

The All-Star Festival will be played in two cities this year. The Basketball games will be played in Brownwood at the Brownwood Coliseum on Thursday, June 6th at 6 p.m. for ladies and 8 p.m. for men. The Volleyball and Football games will be played in Abilene on Saturday, June 8th with the Volleyball at noon in Moody Coliseum on the Abilene Christian University campus and the Myrle Greathouse All-Star Classic football game will be played at 7 p.m. at Shotwell Stadium.

Diego and Karlee are both seniors at SSHS and will graduate in May. They are very involved in many sports and activities including football, basketball, power-lifting, tennis, track, NHS, Spanish Club, PALs and OAP.
