The spring of the year always brings with it a multitude of new activities. So far we have had book fairs, we continue to host Saturday school, after school tutorials and many, many sporting events for students to participate in and parents and grandparents to enjoy watching. It has been most exciting this week as we think about watching our girls and boys basketball teams participate in playoff games. The thought of being able to host a doubleheader playoff game was very exciting as we began to plan for the possibilities of getting the ‘Dillo fans all in one spot to support the student athletes.

The students have to work very hard to balance all of the sporting and club events that they do and remain current and up-to-date on their class work. As much as we love sports and club activities, the most important thing in our school lives is daily instruction and helping students plan for a future outside of their K-12 education. One of the biggest hurdles that students have to overcome before getting out of high school is the state assessment required for graduation. The first of those assessments is upon us. The juniors will be taking their first exit level test on March 4. This assessment is the English Language Arts Exit Level TAKS. Daily instruction in the classroom and testing through the course assessments that students have been taking all year should prepare them for this assessment, but on test day, students and teachers get nervous. If you have a student who will be taking this assessment and other assessments throughout the year, please talk to them and encourage them. As well, if you have a child who you feel may need extra help, please do not hesitate to speak to the campus principal where your child attends school. Tutorials and extra help is available!! The next round of assessments occurs in April. Students and teachers are working really hard to prepare for these assessments! Please encourage students and teachers and let them know that you support them in all their interests and pursuits.

Please make note of an upcoming event!!! We have our spring parent open house on March 4! Save the date!!!
