If you thought January went by fast, this month put it to shame as it has been sonic speed. The winds have already started. So batten down the hatches because we know March is famous for wind and it will dry out what little bit of rain we recently received. If we are lucky there just might be some more chances of moisture in the coming week. This past week there have been some frost and ice nearly every morning, but the sun has warmed up each day in a hurry.

Charlene Brister reported that she and Jackie attended the Cherokee Home fund raiser for cancer Saturday. She reported that the 50’s decorations and

the steaks were wonderful. Everyone had a good time.

Pat and Bonnie Millican are having a new water well drilled on their place and it is hoped they get a good one. Several new wells have been drilled around the Bend and from the reports they have all been good.

The Bend Community meeting went off as scheduled and Daelyn Ellis did a wonderful job of singing. After the singing and the meal a short business meeting was held. New officers were elected. The new president is Clay Spivey, the other new officers were Leon Eckhoff 2nd Vice president, and Carol Gibson will be the parliamentarian. Phil McCoury will remain as vice president and Jo Price will still be the secretary/treasurer.

Family members of Daelyn Ellis who attended the meeting were: Glenn McDonald, Sammy Bailey, Daecee Ellis, Bryan Ellis, Carolyn Ellis, Krista Moore and Jillyan Moore. They came to give her support. It was wonderful to

see a family that drove from Lampasas just to support Daelyn. She is certain to be asked to come and sing again. It is a shame that more people in the Bend area do not come to listen to the entertainment that is free for them

to enjoy, as they don’t know what they are missing. Daelyn is an up and coming singer with Kay Lynn Scott keeping her under her wing.

The Pauswang family that has entertained several times at the Bend community center was recently in Nashville where they appeared on the Shot Gun Red

Variety show. They were selected out of 2500 to be one of the 78 acts to appear on the General Jackson Showboat on season 3. They now have a website http.//pausitive-band.com/news htm.and has a new release to be out this month called “Life in The Country.”

Jane Tinney reported that the grand kids Brady, Nicholas and Erica Freeland from Grand Prairie visited over the long weekend. They enjoyed shooting the

22, riding on the four wheelers, watching TV and visiting their great grand mother Jean Freeland before going to meet their mother for the trip home.

Mickie Henniger and wife Jill of Cedar Park was out Sunday visiting parents R.J. and Patsy Henniger. They enjoyed having dinner with parents before

returning to Cedar Park.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Jane Tinney and Nan Marley who will celebrate their birthday February 22, to Julia Lackey whose birthday is February 26 and to Patrick Henniger who will celebrate his birthday February

28, and that will be all the birthdays for the month of February.
