Thursday, February 14, 2013 • Posted February 13, 2013

The San Saba JV boys basketball team finished off their season this past week, winning both of their games. Last Tuesday evening, the Dillos won an exciting overtime game against a good DeLeon team. Final score for that game was 54-52. Scoring for the Dillos: John Faught (5), Holt Oliver (18), John Welch (10), Logan Guidroz (8), Stone Sealy (5), and Josh Cazares with (8).

On Friday evening, the young Dillos finished their season with a season high 61 points. They defeated Hico by the score of 61-34. Scoring in that game: Faught (16), Oliver (11), Welch (2), Guidroz (10), Ridge Smith (2), J. Cazares (15), Stone Sealy (5).

Since this was our final game, I just want to say “thank you” to the JV players for a really fun, enjoyable, and interesting year. This group of young men were a pleasure to coach. Their dedication, work ethic, and the fact that they really enjoyed being around each other makes them a special group. In my weekly score update, I rarely mention much more than who scored, but this team was so much more than that. They were truly an un-selfish bunch, and all of them contributed to the success of this team. We finished the year at 7-2 in district play, beating every team at least once, and our 2 losses were close to the final buzzer. This group included seven freshmen and two sophomores. I look forward to these young men advancing through our basketball system, and continue to build on what Coach Welch and the varsity players have accomplished this season. Again, a very special thanks to this years JV boys basketball team: John Faught, John Welch, John Watson, Stone Sealy, Logan Guidroz, Yason Aguirre, Holt Oliver, Ridge Smith, Josh Cazares., and manager Ricardo Garcia.
