Richland Springs wins First and Second at District CX Debate Meet

The Richland Springs CX debate Team of Thomas Fowler and Ty Mann won 1st place at the district 30A meet held at Richland Springs high school on January 31st. The team of Jacob Cohn, and Melanie Hedley placed 2nd ,both teams are to participate in the State debate meet held in Austin on March 11th and 12th. The Richland Springs teams competed against Rocksprings high school’s three teams of Clarissa McDonald and Sissy Wade, Amanda Nombrano and Eli Ramirez, and Noreli Jimenez and Rebecca Ramirez. Richland Springs coach Nelson Smith stated that it was a really close and hard fought tournament with second place being decided by one speaker point. 1st place speaker was Melanie Hedley,2nd place was a tie between Clarissa MacDonald and Sissy Wade, and Thomas Fowler placed 3rd in speaker points.
