Give the weather man an “A” plus for being right on target this past week with the rain predication as there are reports of one half inches of rain falling around the Bend Saturday. We more has been promised and we will know by this time next week if it happens. See more and more people getting itchy fingers to start getting their seeds in the ground. There are some things that should be planted right about now, but beware, there could be another cold front with frost. There is an old saying that if it thunders in

February, it will frost in April. Lola Morris has always said that and nine times out of ten she has been right. These warm days have started the beggars lice and other weeds to really pop out.

Raymond Hicks reported that the Burr Clover is making an appearance on his place. He also reported that his grand daughter Laura Beth is the proud owner of a new colt, which she can’t wait to start to train.

Bonnie Millican reported that the Methodist Church had their annual Sweetheart Breakfast Sunday morning before worship service. The men cook for the ladies; it is their gift to the women of the church. Bobby Hicks made biscuits using Paula Deen’s recipe and received rave reviews for them. She reported it was hard to get up and down for hymns and to stay focused on the sermon after such a great meal, but they wouldn’t want Pastor Celia to know that.

The Bend Community meeting will be this coming Saturday, February 16, at 6:00 p.m. Daelyn Ellis of Lampasas will be singing Country Western songs, starting at 6 and afterward a covered dish supper will be served. Every one is welcome to attend and asked to bring a covered dish and/or dessert. Come and be prepared to enjoy the music and of course the meal.

Happy birthday goes out to Sammy Johnson who will celebrate a birthday Saturday February 16, to Wes Harris who will celebrate his birthday February 18 and Kaytan Keeney whose birthday is Thursday, February 21.
