Torch Lit

1 Corinthians 9:24: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”

The Greeks had a race in their Olympic games that was unique. The winner was not the runner who finished first. It was the runner who finished with his torch still lit. Only the faithful steady ones who constantly watched their flame made it to the end to be the victors.

Revelation 2:10: “Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

Someday life will end. We will hit the finish line, but will our torch be lit for Christ? Will we be among the faithful? Will we still sing? “True hearted, whole hearted, faithful and loyal. King of our lives, by Thy grace we will be.”
