Major Clarence Mosby

Major Clarence Mosby, 93, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 in San Saba. Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The service was held Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Heritage Funeral Home and interment followed at San Saba Cemetery.

Clarence was born on January 27, 1920, to George and Ethel Mosby in Grandview, Indiana. He married Juanita Busby on August 1, 1941, in Goldthwaite, Texas. He enlisted into the National Guard in 1940. Then, he was commissioned into the Army in 1946. While serving, he was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, World War II Victory medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), 4 Overseas Service Bars, and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired from the service in 1961 with 22 years of service. He then joined his family in San Saba.

He was an avid sports man in that he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and other activities. While living in San Saba, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Rotary Club, and served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening and was known as the "spoiler" of grandchildren.

Surviving him were his children: Carolyn and Larry Staton of San Antonio, Barbara and Danny Miller of Harwood, and Beth and Jimmy Ellis of San Saba; grandchildren: Lisa and Ron Reese, Jeff and Oleta Miller, Richard and Stephanie Taylor, Les and Vicki Miller, Donna and Joe Barletta, Danna and Tim Pepper, Kimberly and Will Snider, and Jim Ellis; great-grandchildren: Lynsey, Amanda Madison, Christopher, Maci, Quade, Preston, Megan, Michael, Hanna, Patrick, Ryan, Rayner, Calea, Corey, Chase, Carter, Taylor, Kameron, and Laney; and great-great grandchild: Aiden.

Preceding Clarence in death was his wife, Juanita, and his parents, George and Ethel Mosby.

Rev. Drew Harrison officiated the service. Honorary pall bearers were: Jeff Miller, Less Miller, Richard Taylor, Jim Ellis, Tim Pepper, Joe Barletta, and Ron Reese.
