The Spring like weather is still continuing and according to the ground hog, which didn’t see his shadow the winter weather may be over earlier than usual, but don’t believe it. We could have a late freeze that will take care of all the fruit trees and tender plants.

This next week on February 14, is St. Valentine’s Day, just a little reminder to all you folks who let it slip up on you. You will have this whole week to decide what to get for the one you love.

The Bend Community meeting will be February 16 and Daelyn Ellis of Lampasas will be singing country western songs for the entertainment at 6:00 p.m.. The meal will be a covered dish supper. Everyone is invited and asked to bring their favorite dish and/or a dessert.

Sylvia Stinnett reported that Garrison, Brooke, Gunner, Suzi and Charlotte Stinnett from Methlothian was here over the weekend visiting. The warm weather allowed the grand kids to get outside and play and play they did. They stayed busy making mud pies. Can some of you out there remember making mud pies and what fun it was?

Autumn Edwards and her fiancé’ Brian Felts of Kyle also visited. Autumn, Brooke, Amanda Morris and some other friends of Autumn spent Saturday in Austin shopping for the upcoming wedding of Autumn and Brian in May. It was reported they really enjoyed themselves.

Gennifer Brister reported on Dillon Brister’s trip to the Ft. Worth Stock show this past week. He showed two Dorper lambs and ended up making the premium sale with both lambs. This was his first big show and of course his mother and dad were really excited. The whole family had a wonderful trip attending the rodeo, the carnival and the trade shows. The boys had their fill of corn dogs and pretzels. Gennifer grew up in Ft. Worth and while she was videoing Dillon a girl that Gennifer had gone to school with and was her best friend in elementary who she hadn’t seen in 30 years walked up to her. Some of Dillon’s Lusty cousins were there showing and Heath Lusty who is the county agent and some Brister cousin’s Greg and Debbie watched him show.

Carolyn McDowell was honored with a salad luncheon at Leaning Bluff Lodge Friday Feb. 1, 4 H Mothers and EEC members each brought a salad and we visited and enjoyed being together for awhile. We presented Carolyn with a monetary gift to enjoy on her trip. Super Bowl Sunday a group of Bend folks gathered at Leaning Bluff Lodge to watch the game. We had some for each team and enjoyed good fellowship and good food while watching the game.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Peggy Whittenburg and Clovis Gibson who will celebrate a birthday February 10, which is also the Chinese New Year (year of the snake) and to Toni Mayben whose birthday is February 13, which is Ash Wednesday.
