Joyce Vardeman passed away on January 21, 2013 from a long fight with Alzheimer’s. Visitation was held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday January 23, 2013 5-8 P.M. Funeral service was held Thursday January 24, 2013 10 a.m. at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Joyce was born on January 28, 1928 in San Saba County, Texas to Raymond and Irva Pearce. She graduated from Richland Springs High School in the year of 1946 where she obtained the honor of Valedictorian. Joyce then continued her education at Texas State College for Women in Denton.

On December 21, 1947 Joyce married Wendell Dean “Buz” Vardeman at Richland Springs. In 1948 they moved to Woodrow, in Lubbock County, where they farmed for many years. Joyce was a member of the Cooper United Methodist Church.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Buz; son, Dean and wife, Lacy; son, Keith and wife, Leslie all of Woodrow; daughter, Holly Schellhase and husband, James of Austin and one sister, Cliffair Lummus of North Richland Hills; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
