Richland Springs 4H and FFA students enjoyed the competition at the San Saba Stock Show this past weekend. Richland Springs ISD students competing in the show range from newcomers to veteran showmen. Here is a summary of the accomplishments of Richland Springs ISD students at this past weekend’s stock show:

Hutton Lusty showed the Grand Champion Lamb. He also had the Grand Champion Goat. Two grand champions at one show is noteworthy.

Berkeley Mann had the Champion British Steer which was also the overall Reserve Grand Champion Steer.

Adrienne Benson had the Grand Champion Heifer.

Ty Mann had the Champion American Steer.

Bralei Lewis showed the Champion Southdown Lamb.

Jordan Burkhart exhibited the Champion Finewool Lamb.

The Champion Medium Wool Lamb was shown by Hutton Lusty.

Gunner Mann showed the Reserve Champion Exotic Steer.

Adrienne Benson exhibited the Reserve Champion Hair Sheep Lamb.

A total of 21 Richland Springs students showed a total of 3 steers, 1 heifer, 3 pigs, 27 lambs and 23 goats.

Students who participated and their best placing:

Hutton Lusty: Grand Champion Lamb and Grand Champion Goat.

The thing I am probably most proud of is that RS students took both junior and senior showmanship awards in lamb, goat and cattle showmanship.

Adrienne Benson won the junior award and Ty Mann the senior award in cattle showmanship.

Landon Burkhart won the junior award and Bralei Lewis the senior award in lamb showmanship.

Kamree Lewis won the junior award and Bralei Lewis the senior award in goat showmanship.

All these students received a belt buckle for their efforts.

Congratulations to all of them, especially Bralei for her sweep of the senior lamb and goat awards.

The auction on Saturday was well attended and the bids were excellent.

21 RSISD students received a premium for 27 animals. Soon the students will be receiving a total of $30,350.00 for their animal placings. There will be added money later but I do not know that total yet.

Please continue to support these young students as many of them will now compete in major shows around the state. Thanks to everyone for your support of these students and our Ag. program at Richland Springs.
