The Elm Grove Community Meeting was held last Saturday night. There were not many in attendance. I encourage everyone to come to the meetings, your participation is so important to keeping this historic building a “living and breathing” part of the community. The old school house is such a loved landmark in our community. There is so much history and so many memories that have taken place within its walls. In our busy lives today, we tend to take some things for granted. Yes, those in attendance will continue to work to keep the building repaired. I know people in the community often “pitch in” throughout the year to help out. However, I encourage everyone to take an hour each month and come to the meetings for the fellowship and to help keep this community, and the beautiful old school house, “humming” for the generations to come.
This month officers were elected. All current officers retained their positions. The officers for 2013 are: President Gerald Weatherman, Vice President Carroll Teague, Secretary/Treasurer Bobby Deeds. Gloria Weatherman brought chicken soup for all to enjoy and others brought desserts. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday evening. Afterwards, some stayed to play 42 and visit. The 2013 calendar was discussed. There will be a regular meeting in February and then on March 16 is the Gospel Singing at the community center. It is always a fun, uplifting meeting. Also discussed were some of the minor repairs that need attention in the building.
The 42 tournament for February will be in Richland Springs on Saturday the 9th.
