I have to say that we have been having some nice weather. The mornings are definitely a little nippy, but by mid afternoon the weather is just beautiful. All the runners and athletes must be enjoying their outdoor workouts. I have not been enjoying any outdoor workouts. (I don’t consider walks with Glen workouts.) I think the mountain cedar has attacked me. At least that’s all I can figure. According to the weather stations the counts are very high. I can’t say I have ever thought myself allergic to the stuff, but my sinuses are most upset by something. I have drugged myself to death to no avail. I guess you just keep taking junk until the spores go away. I don’t get sick very often, so I am not a patient, patient!
Glen and I are both taking it easy today. On our walk yesterday Glen decided to play “dillo” killer again, but this one got away. A furious and frantic race through the briars and downed trees promptly occurred. I looked on in amazement as Glen soared over a downed tree in his path, only to come to a halt stuck high and dry on the tree. He managed to get himself off before I could reach him. For the next twenty minutes he tried to recapture his illusive prey, but that little fellow was no dummy. Glen didn’t seem to be bothered by his crash until I went out to give him dinner. He held his leg out stiffly and didn’t want to walk at all. When I laid him down I could see this quarter sized piece of inner thigh missing. I put some aloe vera on, but he promptly licked it off, so I just left him. He is not inclined to run today, so I have not had to go out. I’m sure he’ll be as right as rain in a day or so. He really is an amazing dog.
I don’t know if anyone else has my strange taste in TV shows. I like NatGeo Wild and other animal and nature shows, but I also like Dr. Pol. He is a country vet with a very widespread and diverse client base. I think the show advertisement says he has 19,000 farmer clients. It gets a little gory sometimes, but it is really interesting to me. I have to say I also like Say Yes to the Dress. It is a stupid show, but I am amazed at the amount of money people will pay for a one hour event. I love my wedding dress. It was a truly beautiful and amazing dress made for me by my mother. The love and talent put into that dress cannot be matched by any gown on the rack. I have told you I am a little strange, right?
Russ took me by the stock barns on Friday, but we arrived after everything was done. I don’t remember the youth fair exhibits or the stock show closing down so early in the past. Oh well, that’s what happens when you don’t feel well. I’ll have to wait until Monday to see how my students did in both shows. I wanted to see Gracie Ashworth show her animal. This was her first ever show and everyone involved was extremely nervous. The nice thing about that is everyone pitches in to help the newcomer get the job done.
I wrote that our class was going to take a trip to Houston, but it looks like we may have to change to San Antonio because of the length of the trip. I love San Antonio, so that is not the end of the world. My main goal is to let our students see other parts of this great state. The farthest trip I ever took was to Canada with my French class. It was a small class so we went in my van. The kids saw things that many other kids never get to see. I think one of our favorite spots was Niagara Falls. I had my two sons with me as well, and we all went horseback riding after a wet visit to the falls. I have very clear memories of that time with my students. I hope they have good memories as well after all these years. I will not try that long a trip ever again!
I have been inundated with tons of emails about this proposed gun ban law put forward by President Obama and the anti-gun lobby.
We have a number of people on the prayer list. Please pray for all the folks with cancer. I hate the sound of that word. Thank God for the recent rains. I hate to be greedy, but we sure need a good frog-strangler of a rain to refill our tanks and save some trees in the spring. When you take your prayer time; please lift our precious troops and their families. Have a great week everyone.
