On Tuesday, Jan. 13th, the Comanche Indians came to town for another district game. At the end of the first quarter, Comanche led the Dillos 12-9. With about 2:30 left in the second quarter, the Dillos trailed by 5, but with a few unforced turnovers, the Indians increased their lead to 15, leading the Armadillos 31-16 at the break. From that point on, the Dillos played the Indians even, with each team scoring 20 points in the second half. “You take away that span of about three minutes at the end of the second quarter, and we are in the game. Turnovers hurt us tonight, and Comanche capitalized on it and that was the difference in the game.” Individual scoring for the Dillos: George Long-14, Ross Williams-11, Hayden Oliver- 4, Chase Key- 3, Chance Gotcher and Braden McBee - 2.

On Friday, Jan. 16th, the Dillos traveled to Coleman. At the end of one, Coleman led 12-7. At the half, Coleman led 30-18. The Dillos played Coleman even in the third with both teams scoring 12 each. Going into the fourth, Coleman led 42-20. In the fourth, the Dillos outscored Coleman 23-18. “We made a run at them in the fourth quarter and cut it to seven, but we just ran out of time. We had a few more chances to cut it even more but we couldn’t capitalize on our free throws. I am proud of the way our kids are playing. They give great effort night in and night out. We are getting better each game, but we just have to get over that hump. Ross Williams and George Long both had outstanding games for us tonight, accounting for 42 of our 53 points.” Scoring for the Dillos: Ross Williams - 22, George Long-20, Hayden Oliver-6, Tucker Cromer 5.

By the time this article is out, we will have played Dublin on Tuesday and we will host Bangs on Friday, Jan. 23rd.
