Santa was good to the Armadillo Basketball team over the Christmas Holidays. On Monday, Dec. 31st, the Armadillos hosted Lometa. At the half, the Dillos increased their lead going in up 31-20. In the third quarter, our defense played really well and held Lometa to 4 points while increasing the lead to 45-24. When the buzzer sounded, the Dillos were on top winning 62-38. Kelan Verette led the scoring for the Dillos with 20 points; Aaron Perez had a great game also. Aaron had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Luis Vega scored a few himself and had 10 points, Kolton Ellis had 7 points, J.T. Mathis had 5 points, Caelob Hardman had 3 points, Ryan Guidroz had 2 points, and Garrett Welch and Issac Zepeda had 1 point.

On Friday, Jan. 4th, the Armadillos traveled to Johnson City. This game was more evenly matched. After one quarter of play, the Dillos led 9-6. At the half the Dillos still had the lead 21-19. After three quarters of play, the Dillos increased their lead to four, leading 36-32. In the fourth quarter, our press defense paid some dividends causing some turnovers and allowed us to pull away a little more, and we ended up winning the game 51-43. Scoring for the Dillos were: Kelan Verette with 16 points, JT Mathis with 9 points, Aaron Perez and Luis Vega with 8 points, Garrett Welch and Issac Zepeda with 4 points, and Caelob Hardman with 2 points.

The Dillos are on a 3-game winning streak heading into District. On Tuesday, Jan. 8th, the Dillos host Meridian for our District opener at 8:00p.m. Then on Friday, Jan. 11th, they will travel to Goldthwaite. Please come out and support our Lady Dillos and Dillos.
