Roberto Torres, Sr.

Roberto Torres, Sr., of San Saba, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 30,2012, at his home in San Saba, at the age of 77. He was born June 1, 1935 in Rocksprings, Texas, the son of Francisco Torres and Eloisa Martinez Torres. Later, as a young adult, Roberto Torres and Manuelita Rodriguez were married and made their home in San Saba where he followed his job, shearing sheep and working in the pecan industry. Fishing and camping were among the pleasures that he enjoyed with his family.

Roberto is survived by his wife, Manuelita Torres of San Saba; four sons, all of San Saba: Ray and Angie Torres, Robert Torres, Jr., Steve Torres, and Tommy Torres; one daughter, Diana and her husband, Pete of San Angelo; his mother, Eloisa Torres of San Saba; six brothers; one sister; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, Norma, Juanita, and Patricia; two brothers, Tony Torres and Raymond Torres; three sisters, Mary Torres, Nena Torres, and Dora Hernandez ; and his father, Frank Francisco Torres.

The family received friends at the Blaylock Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, January 2, 2013, 5:00-7:00 P.M., with a Rosary following at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Deacon Richard Menchaca officiating. Interment followed at the San Saba Cemetery.
