Eureta (Reta) Whitley

Eureta (Reta) Whitley, 83, of San Saba passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in Brownwood, Texas. Visitation was held on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. Services were held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home San Saba. Interment followed at Neal Cemetery at Spring Creek.

Eureta Whitley was born on May 19, 1929 to Lat and Eunice Mountain in Burkett, Texas. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class. She married Jody Whitley on March 5, 1959, in San Saba, Texas.

Reta worked as city treasurer for the City of San Saba for 20 years. She played the piano for church and the nursing home for many years. She touched the hearts of every one she knew and met with her sweet, loving nature.

Surviving Reta are her children: Gary and Kathy Briggs of Albany, Oregon; Lana and Pete Sloan of San Saba; Buddy and Rebecca Whitley of San Saba; 7 grandchildren: Patrick and Ann Marie Hazlett, Curtis and Katie Hazlett, Jason and Vicky Ketchum, Randy Ketchum, Timothy and Tara Ketchum, Michael and Christi Whitley and Ami and Jason Nix; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Lovera Strickland of Burkett; and several nephews.

Preceding Reta in death were her husband, Jody Whitley; her parents, Lat and Eunice Mountain; and 1 sister, Bonita Tinney.

Bro. Bruce Craig conducted the service. The grandsons served as pall bearers.
