San Saba Scottish Rite Club elects 2013 officers

The San Saba Scottish Rite Club conducted its last quarterly meeting on Monday, December 10th. New officers elected for the 2013 year were: president- John D. Rhoades, 32º, 1st Vice President-Bobby G. King 32º, and 2nd Vice President-Jan K. Huffstetler, 32º, Secretary-Treasurer Ross J. Cox, Sr. 33º, and Outer Guard-Earnest Roy Jones, 32º.

Recently the San Saba Scottish Rite Club provided a seven week (Oct-Dec.) educational course in Goldthwaite for Scottish Rite Freemasons. Those attending were Dr. Joseph J. Huckestein, Gary E. Farley, Web K. Mays, James D. Purcell and Henry Gibbard. The course taught was the Master Craftsman. The Master Craftsman is comprised of six comprehensive lessons to include essays covering degrees 4º-32º.

In addition, the students received an additional course entitled the Scottish Rite Basic Training Course. This was a series of weekly lectures, history handouts and quizzes.

The class studied about the early history and formation of the Scottish Rite in Europe and America, its early leaders and how the Rite developed in Texas.

Also, the class learned of its many customs and traditions that make the Scottish Rite known as The University of Freemasonry. At the end of the course, a comprehensive exam was given covering the material.

Each student will receive a certificate and pin from the Personal Representative of the Sovereign Grand Inspector General of Texas. This will take place at the next stated meeting at the Austin Valley on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

One student will be selected as an Honor Student Graduate and recognized with a special award.
