LA Newby

LA Newby, 78, of Richland Springs passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, in Temple, Texas. Graveside services were held at Richland Springs Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2012. Bro. Barry Fikes conducted the service.

LA Newby was born on October 31, 1934 to Claude L. and Tempie Hall Newby in Richland Springs, Texas. He married Annette Hubbert on July 22, 1959, in San Saba, Texas. He spent most of his life working as a conservation contractor in and around San Saba County. He loved collecting arrowheads and unusual coins.

Survivors include his wife: Annette Newby of Richland Springs; sons: Aleck Newby and wife, Gwen, of Holland, and Lance Newby of Richland Springs; grandchildren: Tiffnie Newby Lotts and husband, Adam, Dusty LA Newby, Chance Brantner; great-grandson, Lawson Joseph Lotts; sister: Renee Maxcey and husband, BJ of Richland Springs; and 4 nieces and 3 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Claude L. and Tempie Newby, and one sister: Claudia Vowell.

Family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.

Services were under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home San Saba.
