Alva Lois Smith

Alva Lois Smith, age 85 of Brownwood, passed away December 16, 2012 in a local nursing home. She was born in Deer Creek, Texas on November 9, 1927 to Walter Barclay and Helga Bush Barclay. She graduated from Richland Springs High School and married ‘Spud ‘ Smith on July 9, 1946.

She is survived by a son, Ed Smith of Brownwood and two granddaughters, Kim Flores and husband, Paul of Cisco, and Stacey Lamb and husband, Robbie of Farwell, Tx; three sisters, Alva Blanche Miller and husband, Pete of Ft. Worth, Nila Brown of Austin, and Shannon Morris of Tow; sister-in-law, Betty Barclay of Thrifty; 5 great grandchildren, Brooklyn Lamb, Chase Lamb, Brayden Flores, Katelyn Flores and Jaclyn Flores and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband ‘Spud’ Smith, brothers, Thomas Barclay and Morris Barclay and a sister, Fern Simpson.

Services for Mrs. Smith will be Wednesday at 1:00 at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood, with interment to follow in Varga Chapel Cemetery.David Barnum will officiate. Visitation for the family will be from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Blaylock Funeral Home, 1914 Indian Creek, in Brownwood. Blaylock Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
