Wilson Johnson (10 year old son of Brady and Anna Johnson) along with his friend Walker Sine, spent last week at Grandma Eleanor and Grandpa Jerry Johnson’s home fishing and hunting on the San Saba River. It was a very successful week as the boys caught several really good fish including this pair of nice yellow cat weighing 15 and 13 pounds. They also caught another 10 pound yellow cat and lots of great channel cat. The lines were baited with river perch caught each day by the boys. The week included lots of bait fishing, seining, night fishing and general fun in the river. It should be noted that the guide did not employ the use of any gigs, grab hooks, treble hooks, gill nets, dynamite or telephones to help the boys catch these fish. They were all caught legally and with great effort by all. The boys are also pictured at left, with this large sow that was taken one evening with a Savage .17 HMR from about 75 yards. Grandma Eleanor’s menu for the week included lots of fried fish, french fries and Grandma’s Pecan pie and ice cream. The guide had much fun too! It had been a while since he had fished this hard; however, it was all the more satisfying to be able spend time with these great young men. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for everything!
