Thursday, June 16, 2011 • Posted June 16, 2011

Charley & Kay Carney are celebrating 50 years of marriage this week. They were married June 17, 1961, at the First United Methodist Church in San Saba. During the years that followed, Charley and Kay moved around frequently while Charley worked construction in and around the U.S., as well as overseas in Venezuela, Iran, South Korea, South Africa, and Indonesia. Kay was a homemaker during this time. They have since made their home in both Brownwood and San Saba, where Charley currently has a farm just west of town.

Their children are Kimber and Jay Bennett of Brownwood; and Shawn and Amy Carney of Sugar Land. They have four grandchildren: Delaney and Jesse Bennett; and Lily and Douglas Carney.
