Another week without rain. A couple of days in the 70’s and then bingo back down to the low 50’s, and from all the weather news it looks like some more of the same for this week. We could be thankful that we didn’t have eleven inches of snow that some had up north, but it is moisture which is more than what we can say around here.

Jerome and Shirley Meischen returned home last week from Phoenix, Arizona where they attended the Texas and Ohio football game at the Fiesta Bowl.

Jerome and Shirley drove to Phoenix, but the other family members flew out. A total of eleven family members was there to cheer for the Longhorns and especially their grandson Blake Gideon.

They were all afraid that up until the very last few minutes of the game that it would be a sad trip home, but as it turned out the Longhorns came out the big winner.

They reported that all the players played a good game and that the Ohio team was very friendly.

Next year they are looking forward to the Longhorns to be in the B.C.S. Championship game.

Patsy Henniger and Jo Price have started back to Weight Watchers to try and lose all the weight that might have been gained over November and December.

They are both determined to get rid of all the excess pounds.

The Riverbend Entertainment group from San Saba will be attending the Bend Community meeting Saturday, January, 17 to entertain everyone. The group consists of Tyler Lackey; Kyla Duncan; Gabe Johnson, and Kandyce Simpson.

Deidra Nixon and son, Sean of Woodlands visited her parents Phillip and Bobbie Morris over the weekend and of course her grandmother, Lola Morris, the great-grandmother of Sean.

Dickie Eckhoff joined the family for lunch Sunday at the home of Lola Morris.

Jane Clark was in Lampasas this week baby sitting grand-daughter Jaylee Messer in Lampasas who is ill. Jaylee was reported to have had a high fever and throwing up. We hope by the time this is read she will be well.

What would everyone do without a grandmother to take care of them?

Barbara Jones went in early Friday for test and returned home that afternoon with a stint that was implanted. She reported that she was feeling just fine and hopes that the stint will help clear up her medical problems that she had been undergoing. She enjoyed the company of Gary and Julia Jones and Cary and Rhonda Jones this past weekend. Both families had come in to give their mother support.

The Bend Community meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, at 6:30 p.m. The featured meal will be chili/stew and soup and all the delicious desserts that members always bring to share with everyone who attends.

Everyone is invited and asked to bring your favorite chili, stew or soup and of course a dessert. The Riverbend entertainers will provide the music. New officers will be elected.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Deidra Nixon who will celebrate a birthday January 16, to Mebbie Eckhoff and Debbie January whose birthday is January 19, to Alton Pope whose birthday is January 20, and to Brodie Lemons whose birthday is January 22.

Congratulations go out to Jimmy and Sylvia Stinnett who will be celebrating an anniversary January 20.
