Congratulations to Dane and Jessica Sawyers on the birth of their first child, Robert Edwin. Roberts’ grandparents are Larry and Gail Beedy of Cherokee and Larry and Maggie Sawyers of Brady.

On January 31 at 6:00 p.m. a fundraiser will take place in Cherokee for Shayden Rogers. Shayden is a Cherokee High School Student that was in a bad wreck back in the Fall. Betty Ratliff was recently honored with a baby shower in San Saba at the home of Shannon Meriwether. Hostesses for the special event were Shannon Meriwether and daughter Megan; Shannon Evans; Suzette May; Vieney Krueger; Kacy Sloan-Turner and Natalie Oyler, all being mothers and participants of the San Saba Area Christian Home Educators, “His Helping Hands”. The honoree’s chosen layout theme of Winnie the Pooh was carried out in delightful decorations and baby gifts for the new little Ratliff.

Cherokee’s favorite friend, Miss Emma Johnson is in the Llano Hospital. Miss Emma will be 101 on Wednesday. We wish her a speedy recovery. If you have news drop it off at the Cherokee Grocery or send it to sroad@centex.net
