San Saba JV girls defeat Early 37-0
Thursday, January 15, 2009 • Posted January 15, 2009

Last Tuesday the JV traveled to early for another game in district play. We were able to defeat Early’s JV 37-30. I was very happy with the effort the girls gave throughout the game. We jumped on them early on the defensive end by pressuring them full court. This created quite a bit of turnovers and some easy buckets for us. Silvia Jimenez did a great job pressuring the job and looking for steals. I was very pleased with our effort on defense.

On the offensive side, we did a great job of feeding it to our post players. Samantha Henry led all scoring with 17 points, while Ashley Pulatie followed with 11.

We were much more patient on offense, and was able to get some better shots. I feel like our post players are getting better, and its starting to show during games.

Paige Chambers has come a long ways and is continuing to get better. Taylor Smith has always played inside as a post in the past and she is learning to adjust by playing outside this year as a guard. I believe she is adjusting pretty well.

Once again, I am very proud of the girls and the effort they give. According to the girls, Tuesday night was a big win for them because they had never beaten Early so that made the win so much better.

After Christmas break, we were struggling a little and losing some games we shouldn’t. The girls have fought back and started working hard again so hopefully we’re headed back in the right direction.

We had an open night Friday and did not play. We will return to action Tuesday night as we play Comanche at home before heading to Coleman Friday night for two district games this week. Thanks for all the support you guys give us. We couldn’t do it without you!!
