Elsie Jane Pierce, 72, of San Saba passed away Friday, January 09, 2009 at her residence. Elsie was born July 17, 1936 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Rice Jackson Spears and Elma Laird Spears. Elsie worked as a Silk Screener at San Saba Cap Factory. She attended the Parkview Baptist Church.

Elsie is survived by one son, Darrell B. Pierce of San Saba; two daughters, Nettie A. Hinton and her husband Joe of Ft. Worth; and Teresa D. Gibson of San Saba. Seven grandchildren, Stephanie Martin; Joe Darrell Pierce; Josh Gibson; Justin Pierce; Misty Hinton; April Gibson; Chase Pierce. Nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Edward Spears and his wife Callie of Ft. Worth; Jay Spears and his wife Linda of Cleburne; two sisters, Jerry Lindsey of Houston; Nell Helbing and her husband Jim of Ft. Worth, and several nieces and nephews.

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Albert Spears; and two sisters, Margaret Broadbent and (infant sister) Mytis Louise Spears.

Services were held Monday, January 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends, Sunday, January 11th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
