Woke up Monday morning to see some moisture falling and very cold. No ice but a cold north wind which made it seem colder than what it was.

The New Year came in with very little fan fare in the Bend Community.

Barbara Jones reported that she attended a celebration held at the Live Oak Extension building with about twenty people who danced their way into 2009.

Barbara Jones was in to see her doctor and he scheduled an angiogram test to be done Friday, January 9. Her son Gary and his wife Julie of Mesquite will be in to be with her when she goes in for the test.

William and Jane Clark celebrated their anniversary by dinning at the Red Lobster in Killeen and then taking in a movie afterward.

Mary Pike of Midland and her children Cindy Machacek; Steven and LaNell Dean; Danny and Deveda Dean; Ben Dean and girlfriend from Midland; and Fredia Pike of Fredricksburg were in over the weekend enjoying the nice weather and doing some work on Mary’s mobile home. They ate supper Saturday night at the home of Tim and Chee Brockman along with George, Toni Mayben, Pennye Pierce, R.J. and Patsy Henniger and Pete Henniger and his three sons along with two of Mary’s grand kids.

Emerson and Gladys Brister are at the Brister ranch where Emerson is out to get another deer before the season ends. They will be attending the funeral of Doris Lee Albert Tuesday along with other family members from the Bend.

Condolences goes out to the family of Doris Lee Albert who passed away and was buried in Dublin Tuesday. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Condolences goes out to the family of Johnnie Keeney and her family on the death of her grandson Mica Keeney of Lubbock. His parents are Mike and Bunnie Keeney. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Bob and Doris Poe of Lometa was in the Bend Sunday visiting family members.

Rufus Cobern received a good report from the doctor concerning his lungs, but he is still suffering from pneumonia.Visitors to the home of Rufus and Tommye Cobern were grandkids and great- grandkids.

In over the weekend from Huffman was Lorie and Oscar Williams and daughter,Christiann; Adam; Becka; Karman and Katy Marley of Huffman.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Sandy Gary who will celebrate a birthday January 10, to Jaylee Messer, Curtis Lemons and Phillip Dowdy who will be celebrating birthdays January 11, to Kristen Preece who will celebrate a birthday January 13, and a big special happy birthday wish goes out to Emma Johnson who will be celebrating her 100 birthday January 14, it is not everyone who will be able to say they are 100 and still have a mind as sharp as Emma Johnson. A happy birthday to Haley Price who will celebrate a birthday Thursday, January 15.
