The Bend News
Thursday, January 1, 2009 • Posted January 1, 2009

This will be the last bit of news from Bend for the year of 2008. Santa Claus didn’t bring the rain that we so badly need. Saturday a cold wind was blowing out of the North, and it was hard to breathe because of all the dirt and dust in the air. It looked more and more like the big dust bowl.

Sunday there was frozen sleet on the windshield but so thin you could barely see it, but then Sunday afternoon it was fairly warm with no wind.

The strong winds must have blown away all the news, because there is very little to report this week. Maybe next week after New Years there will be more to write about.

Barbara Jones returned home Saturday from a trip to Grand Prairie where she spent Christmas with her family. She got to visit all of her children, grandchildren and great- grand children. She enjoyed the visit, but was glad to be back home.

Phil B and Winnie Lou McCoury spent Christmas in Bryan visiting all of the children, grand and great-grand children. Phillip and Rebecca Dowdy and Justin McCoury of Bryan is visiting their grandparents this week

Lola Morris had a surprise visit Christmas afternoon. Dwayne Blair of Lampasas was out and enjoyed a visit with Lola.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Rufus Cobern whose birthday is January 1, to Charlene Brister, Phyllis Brookshire, Tommye Cobern, and Billy Bub McCoury who will be celebrating a birthday January 6, to Annie White whose birthday is January 7.

Congratulations go out to William and Jane Clark who will celebrate an anniversary January 1, and to Robert and Spring Price who will celebrate an anniversary January 7.

Happy New Year!
