Luis Vega was named Grand Champion Youth Winner at the San Saba County Pecan Food Show recently. His entry was named Toasted Coconut Pecan and Caramel Pie. Luis was one of several entries from Jennifer Walzal’s Family and Consumer Science Classes.

The Richland Springs Coyotes successfully completed their quest for back-to-back-to-back State Championships last Saturday at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene with a resounding victory over the Follett Panthers. The game was ended early in the third quarter due to the mercy-rule. The San Saba City Council held a Regular Session on Monday, December 10th, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Mayor Ken Jordan called the Session to order and announced a quorum present with Alderman Mark Amthor absent. Alderman Shawn Oliver gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. The Employee of the Month award was presented by Golf Pro, Chuck Jennings to Jerry Turner, Golf Course Superintendent.

The background of this came when someone wanted Jesus to divide the family inheritance with him. Jesus let him, and us, know that there is more to life than the treasures we store up on this earth. The things that we can see and touch are temporal in nature.

Several years ago I wrote a Biblical Gem on the Divine and Sacred names of God. It drew a lot of comment and compliments, but despite the information some saw for the first time, it was not the message it should have been because I did not have the understanding of those names that I have recently discovered..

Mr. Frank S. Hardin of Fredericksburg and formally of Harlingen passed away on Wednesday December 12th in the Hill Country Memorial Hospital at the age of 87 years. Frank was born February 10, 1925 in San Saba, Texas to Perry and Winnie Boynton Hardin. He attended The University of Texas prior to joining the Army Air Corps in 1943.

LA Newby, 78, of Richland Springs passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, in Temple, Texas. Graveside services were held at Richland Springs Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2012. Bro. Barry Fikes conducted the service. LA Newby was born on October 31, 1934 to Claude L. and Tempie Hall Newby in Richland Springs, Texas.

Alva Lois Smith, age 85 of Brownwood, passed away December 16, 2012 in a local nursing home. She was born in Deer Creek, Texas on November 9, 1927 to Walter Barclay and Helga Bush Barclay. She graduated from Richland Springs High School and married ‘Spud ‘ Smith on July 9, 1946.
