The Richland Springs Coyotes put a good old-fashioned whuppin’ on a athletic and speedy bunch of Bulldogs from Milford last Friday night in Hico. Lots of folks from the world of six-man football had predicted that Milford was the team to take down the Mighty Coyotes. They also predicted that same Coyote demise last week against Jonesboro.

2 CHRONICLES 7:13-14 “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among MY people: + If MY people which are called by MY name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek MY face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”This is one of the most comforting promises that can be found in your Bible and was spoken directly from the mouth ...

I do not like television nearly as much as Harold. He watches the many sets we own, recently purchased a special WiFi device for one of the sets so he could watch Netflix picks on it and also watches shows on his computer. I suppose one could say Harold might have been a television in another life.I do, however, enjoy watching the show Survivor.

Gluten-Free Is Not the Same as Low CarbohydrateThose with celiac disease cannot tolerate the protein gluten that is found in wheat, rye, and barley. (Gluten can also be found in oats if they are processed in the same plants that process wheat.) Although it is sometimes simply called gluten intolerance, celiac disease is an intestinal disorder.

At this time of the year we begin to think about Christmas coming. For some people, they are thinking of Christ and his birth. Children are thinking of the day they will receive presents. Others may be thinking of time off from work, and visiting with family and friends. And retailers are thinking of the money that is to be made.Whatever your reason, it is always better to remember those around us who are not as fortunate.

Clouds have formed in the autumn sky this Monday morning. Unfortunately, no rain is in the forecast. The county judge’s office has reinstated the burn ban for San Saba County. With all the dry fall foliage and the lack of rain, it is so important to adhere to these burn bans when issued.

Reading Recommendations: New Beginnings, Warren Spivey"New Beginnings covers the state of Texas where the author lived while teaching for thirty-five years in the public school systems with a handicap that would have prevented his employment in other jobs and professions. Teaching was the will of God. After thirty-five years of teaching more than 4725 students who are successful in many walks of life, it is a thrill to encounter any one of them on a public street in Texas.

Juan 1:1-4 El Verbo hecho carne.

Dear Editor: Sorry this letter is late in the day getting to you. We have just gotten home from viewing the display of Christmas lights in Mill Pond Park there in San Saba. It is amazing! We went to San Antonio over the weekend and took in all the lights on the river and elsewhere around town.

A friend of mine sent me a story worth repeating. On an Autumn night in 1860, a steamboat broke up and sank in Lake Michigan. Of the 393 passengers, only 114 survived. 17 of those 114 were saved by a young Bible college student. Edward Spencer, a strong swimmer but facing strong winds and high waves, made 17 round trips into the seas; but at the end of the day collapsed from exhaustion.

I have to start with a few disclaimers. First, I really do not have a problem with people saying “Happy Holidays.” That phrase was around a long time before various people and organizations started taking the Christ out of Christmas, in fact, a song with that title was written in 1942.

Imagine you’re sipping coffee on your back porch when a different kind of sparrow pops out from under a bush, jostling with your regular House Sparrows for spilled seed under the bird feeder. What is that? You could flip to your trusty field guide, but you know that half of the little birds in the book are brown, so you’re tempted to just chalk it up as a “little brown jobber.” But, with three easy steps, you can narrow the list of possibilities for this little sparrow ...

I just heard the strangest thing from the living room. My husband Russ, who doesn’t like all this new fangled computer stuff, has decided he wants an MP3 player. I’m not yet sure what triggered that request, but I’m sure I’ll find out shortly. The Christian Church had its tree decorating ceremony on Sunday.

We kept a 10-point lead for much of the game but never were able to give them the big knockout punch. I felt like we got rattled at times and turned the ball over and that kept giving them energy .
