I dreamed that I was in a very large gathering of many people. And we had all brought large square patches to put in a quilt that would represent our present life. And I saw an angel that sat at a large table who was sewing those quilt patches together to make a huge quilt.

Howdy friends and neighbors, Patches here! I am wearing a surgical mask because everyone in this house has been sick and with a nose like mine germs within thirty feet can find their way into my nasal passages! I had to be creative and tie the strings to my back teeth because they kept slipping off my ears.

Reading Recommendations: The Jefferson Lies, Exposing the Myths You've Always Believed About Thomas Jefferson, David Barton, Foreword by Glenn BeckDidn't Thomas Jefferson father the child of his slave girl? Wasn't he an anti-Christian secularist who rewrote the Bible to his liking? Doesn't the evidence prove he was just another racist, bigoted colonial?

Dear Editor,This past week, a friend and I set out on a motorcycle ride from Sunnyvale Texas to the Texas hill country. Although our destination was Leakey, TX, we planned our ride through San Saba to enjoy a little culture and countryside. As we rode into San Saba, we stopped in a parking lot across from what I recall was the A&B Grocery on Hwy 16.

If a mysterious trill catches your attention in the night, bear in mind the spooky sound may come from an owl no bigger than a pint glass. Common east of the Rockies in woods, suburbs, and parks, the eastern screech owl is found wherever trees are, and they're even willing to nest in backyard nest boxes.

Recently my wife and I took a few days off and went to the mountains. As I sat outdoors in the still, cool, crisp air looking at the mountains, I was impressed with their grandeur and beauty. All the stunning colors of the leaves was like looking at a picture painted by a great artist that was put on a living canvas.

The weather has been more like Spring than Fall. Cool early in the morning and warm days, just right for some folks. The time change has some still running on the old time. It is really hard on the body to get used to the change. The computers are about the only thing that doesn’t seem to have a problem.
|
We have had quite a week of changing weather. I regret to say it has not been a week of rain. My grandson said it rained on him Saturday on his trip home from San Saba, but not a drop here. Mike Phelan said he had a little, but not enough to count.

The San Saba 5th and 6th grade team traveled to Lampasas this last Saturday for the 1st round of the playoffs against the Llano Yellow jackets. The little dillos played their hearts out, but came up on the short end of the stick 11-8. The armadillos did a great job of controlling the ball and had a “bend but not break” attitude on defense.

For 14 years, it was by word of mouth only that each December a truck would arrive with the wreaths from Maine at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia… always at dawn…always dignified…with so little fanfare, it was almost a Christmas surprise. The image is unforgettable…green Christmas wreaths clad with hand-tied red bows, adorning stark white headstones.

The Tigers Junior High utilized a huge advantage in size and weight to hand the Coyotes JH a rare loss last Thursday night at Tiger Stadium in Blanket. Thursdays’ game was a stark reminder of how important offensive and defensive execution really is in the six-man game of football. The younger Coyotes were facing a hefty and athletic Tiger team, and could ill-afford to miss tackles or be out of position on defense.

Richland Springs hosted the Blanket Tigers last Friday night at Coyote Field in Richland Springs. On the field, the Coyotes proved to be not very gracious hosts, sending the Tigers home early with yet another halftime mercy rule victory. The Tigers were big and pretty fast, but were no match for the machinelike offensive execution and hard hitting, smash-mouth defense of the Coyotes.
