It is a pleasure to report on the progress at the Senior Center Community Gardens. We are delighted to see each step planned and now developing. Some of us have walked around the project, others of us have watched from the windows and from our cars. We wanted our grounds around the building landscaped and beautiful for family reunions and other events, as well as for us.

I am a person of order and routine. I admit to being OCD and to having a quirkiness when it comes to clutter. When a person of order lives with , hmm, what shall I call him, oh I guess a Harold will do, the person who likes order must use every open opportunity to restore order.

The Olympics began in London this week. Every four years we wear our Red, White and Blue colors very proudly. There will be records broken, along with great victories that are won. There will also be those who will be defeated and barely miss the gold medal...and those who have no medal whatsoever. It takes a lot of hard work to be an Olympian.

Reading Recommendations: David Crockett, The Lion of the West, Michael WallisHis name was David Crockett. He never signed his name any other way, but popular culture transformed his memory into "Davy " Crockett, while Hollywood gave him a coonskin hat that he hardly ever wore. Two Sundays ago, I had this column all written in my mind and was thinking I would ask the newspaper to run a "bonus" from Spring Creek. I’m all caught up in the Olympics! I love the gymnastics, the track and field, the swimming and the tennis, but I’m not totally into fencing and cycling. My heart hurts for the ones that don’t win. Obviously someone has to win and the rest lose, but I can’t imagine the pain of training and the self deprivation of major parts of your life so that you can compete in an event, only to lose.
