Richland Springs ISD paid off the existing debt on the Richland Springs cafetorium. The approximate $58,000 yearly payment can now be used as needed by the district. Deleting this yearly payment will help offset the reduced state funding expected in 2012-2013.Richland Springs ISD is using sound financial management to reduce debt and save almost a quarter of a million dollars in interest payments.

IMPACT 2000+’s Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the San Saba Track Field in Mill Pond Park. This is a free event for all children ages 8 and under. There will be races for four different age groups but everyone needs to be there at 10am for the start.

On Monday night, April 2, 2012, the Richland Springs High School One Act Play performed in Sonora, Texas. Steel Magnolias was named one of the two Advancing Plays and received three first place ballots from all three of the judges. Menard High School was named the other Advancing Play.Thomas Fowler received a medal for All-Star Crew.

Angela Ganter, an Abilene area barrel racer who is battling cancer, will be a guest speaker at the San Saba County Relay for Life Friday, April 13th at Risien Park. Angela will speak around 6pm. Billie Ruth Patton was taken by the angels to spend her eternity with the Lord on March 28, 2012, at the age of 101 years and six days in Bedford, Texas. She was born in the Colony community, San Saba County, Texas, to James R. Ragsdale and Katherine (Kate) Matsler Ragsdale on March 22, 1911.

Bonnie Harkey, age 85 of San Saba, Texas passed away in Leon County, Texas on Tuesday March 27, 2012. Bonnie was born on July 23, 1926, to Joe Sawyer and Kitty Tubbs. Bonnie loved her church and was a very faithful member of the First Baptist Church in San Saba.

Karen Gail Johnson was born on February 24, 1962 in Richmond, Virginia to Fred E. Johnson and Gloria Friese Johnson. Karen was a nurse/caregiver and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Richmond, Virginia in 1988. She was a loving mother to her son, Isaiah Johnson. Karen passed away on March 25, 2012 in San Saba.

Travis D. Owens, longtime co-owner of Key Auto Supply in Lampasas, died March 19, 2012, at Cornerstone Hospital in Austin.
