There are so many things I find special about living in San Saba. I love the fact I now consider a traffic jam waiting for three cars to go by on 190 before I can make a left turn off a side street. I still think about the time a few years ago in my scattered brained way, I failed to sign a check for the light bill, the phone rang and I heard Susie’s voice say…”Lindy, did you know you forgot to sign your check?” I immediately went to correct my oversight and thought ...

In the great commission recorded in Matthew Jesus ended this by saying, “and lo, I am with you always…” I realize he has just commissioned his apostles to teach, baptize and to teach some more when he says this, but isn’t this true of all our lives? Farmers know what this means because it is a farmers nightmare. It is when a layer of dirt compacts below surface of the topsoil and becomes very hard. It can be several inches to several feet below the surface and it stops or severely limits crop production on farmland and you have to get big tractors and special plows to break it up if you want to cure it.

There is just something about a fairy tale’s reversal of expectations that intrigues us. There is something amazing about finding out that the frog is really a handsome prince, that the ugly duckling is the one that grows into the most resplendent of all swans.Fairy tales are stories of transformation, and that’s what happened to these simple first century people the Bible calls Christians.

The Super Bowl is over at last and now if we could just get away from all the political stuff that is going on it would be so nice.
