2 TIMOTHY 3:1-5 “ This know also, that in the last days perilous times will come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves; covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy; without natural affection; truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. It is the day after Christmas and Harold just left to head back to the coast. Patches started trembling like a leaf being blown on a driveway by a power washer the minute he saw Harold bring his jacket from the bedroom and hang it on my Tread Climber by the front door.

Today begins a new year. None of us are clairvoyant enough to know what the new year will bring. The only one who knows this is our heavenly Father. We can only hope and pray that it brings blessings to each of us. As we begin a new year it is time to rid ourselves of negative thinking and bad habits.

Refresh is a very powerful and potent word in the Bible. Who among us does not need refreshing from time to time? However, as the writer correctly points out, this chapter of NSSWSC's history will come to a close in the very near future with the final refund to members.

I had a chance to find a quiet time to think and reflect this Christmas. I tried to review this year and some of the events. In many ways last year was good because we had very little sickness and several times our family was able to get together. Many of our family moved closer to God and we also have a new grandson.

Children enjoy coming to our gardens to play "boats."Their "boats" are little branches of trees which they place in the water of the streams. They run along beside them and follow them as they go downstream. When the water runs rapidly, the "boats" move rapidly. The little "boats" are carried along, under the control and direction of the water.

Coming alongside and just being present with someone in the hospital or under some special pressure is often all that’s needed. It’s a sign of love. It’s a token of care. We don’t need to talk a lot. We may not know what to say. We may be afraid of foot-in-mouth disease.

It seems everyone made it through Christmas safe and sound. The weather was cold and sorta wet, but no big white stuff like other parts of Texas had to contend with. May all of you have a Happy New Year and make it through the New Year celebration without any mishaps.Just think another year and having to remember to write 2012 instead of the 2011.

The New Year is a time of resolutions. It’s a time when people commit to making a change in their life. Losing weight, changing jobs, saving money, making money, a new relationship, getting in shape, going back to school, or giving up smoking, are just some of the goals people set for themselves on January 1st.Although it’s possible for anyone to make a change or a new start, it takes determination, commitment, and persistence.
