I Corinthians15: 50 " Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of GOD."
This scripture is positive and clear and there is no excuse for all who see it ; to not believe it. But far too many are planning their future without understanding it.

Since when have sixteen year olds needed to use wrinkle cream? I just wondered because from the look of some of the models on the commercials for anti-aging creams they wouldn’t know a wrinkle unless it was in a shirt their mommy forgot to iron. I would like to know something else, do ordinary, regular looking women ever use make up?

It is not news to anyone that we have still not had any rain. More and more folks are getting rid of their cattle or buying hay if they can find it. We traveled out to San Angelo over the weekend and it is sad to see all the empty fields.

There's a pillar in Trafalgar Square in London. On top of it is a statue of Britain's naval hero, Lord Nelson.
But it's up so high you can't see his features. So in 1948 an exact replica was made and placed at eye level. Now everyone can see him. That's what God did at Christmas.

An old hymn intones, "Only believe. Only believe. All things are possible. Only believe." Wait. At the end of empty faith there are empty dreams. Faith that is worthy of the name always has an object. People believe in someone or something, even if it’s themselves.
The faith of the Bible is never empty.

The water situation on the Colorado River is getting bad. There are places where the river isn’t running at all, just small pools of standing water which won’t last much longer unless we get some much needed rain. Everyone around the Bend is trying to conserve water so that their wells will not go dry.

Until triteness wore it down to a nub, the expression "keeping up with the Joneses" was a guaranteed grin-getter, or at least a "been there/done that" nod of the head.
Then, some wiseacre suggests that when he thinks he’s finally caught up, the Joneses re-finance.
Think that one through. Molly’s "Taint funny, McGee"

I’m writing this a little early. It appears that my computer is about to be ugly again. Twice in the last few days I have turned on the computer only to stare at lines of garble. That is not a good feeling! The main topic on everyone’s mind is our lack of rain and this extreme heat.

Now, being a kid back in the 40’s, and I guess before, took a lot of creativity. Nobody had money for store bought toys back then or at least not very many so we had to make our own, or if we were lucky enough to have a grandpa or some other old man that liked to whittle, perhaps we could talk them into making us something we could play with.

Water, especially in close proximity to dove feeding areas, should be at a premium heading into the Sept.

Q: What are the "dog days of summer?"
A: It’s a slang term for the hottest time of the year, explains Brent McRoberts of Texas A&M University. "In general terms, it’s the time between early July and early September when the highest temperatures occur in the Northern Hemisphere," he says.
