Most Texas counties are experiencing severe drought, and it’s important to keep in mind this holiday weekend that just a little spark can start a massive wildfire.
Texas Forest Service continues to urge caution when it comes to any outdoor activity that can cause a spark – from outdoor grilling or building a campfire to parking a car on dry grass or shooting celebratory fireworks in approved areas.

1 Corinthians 15:50 "Now this I say brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; neither dost corruption inherit incorruption."
This scripture is a clear warning that at death our flesh bodies will rot and stink in the process of returning to the earth from which they came.

For those of you who know me, you know that I am a non-judgmental sort of soul who believes with every fiber of my being those who walk this earth are entitled to the right to be exactly who they wish to be. Such withstanding, there are those things in life I find myself questioning and a few, on occasion have sorely tested my patience enough to qualify as a bane to my existence.

Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee makes me want to Kneel at the Cross.

The good news of the week is the rain last Tuesday night! We had .75 here in Richland and from .4 to .9 out around Elm Grove. It has been so hot with winds out of the south so most of the moisture is probably already gone. We made a trip to Ozona last Saturday and it is much drier there than we are here.

During the Crimean War between Russia and Britain’s allies, the "Charge of the Light Brigade" took place in 1854. Out of approximately 600 British cavalrymen, 247 were either killed or wounded by Russian troops. Later, though, Britain would be victorious in the Crimea.
After the dust had settled, the British poet Alfred Lord Tennyson would describe the allegiance of those soldiers with these words:
"Theirs not to make reply,Theirs not to reason why,Theirs but to do and ...

Just before going to bed one night, a little boy called to his family in the living room, "I'm going to say my prayers. Does anybody want anything from God?"
He had the right idea, for prayer is asking and receiving.
A lot of people don't expect anything to happen when they pray.

Nearly all of Texas is in a serious drought, and almost two-thirds of the state — including most of Central Texas and the lower Colorado River basin — is entering the summer season in exceptional drought, the most severe category.
The eight months from October 2010 through May 2011 have been the driest on record for that eight-month period in Texas since 1895.

By U.S. Senator John Cornyn
This summer, Texans are fortunate to have access to a wide variety of outdoor destinations, from crystal clear rivers and beaches to canyons and caverns, often only a short road-trip away.
Though the thought of a Texas landscape will undoubtedly recall an image of a fiery summer sunset and stubborn cacti, national parks, preserves, recreation areas, and beaches in Texas boast diverse landscapes suited to many recreational activities.

If trying to figure out the 411 (information) on 420 leaves you scratching your head, this parent tip’s for you! Because more than likely, your tween already knows that ‘420’ is a drug reference to marijuana (aka: kush, kick stick, catnip, vipe and many other ‘slang’ names that vary significantly depending on culture and community location).
Parents should also know that marijuana use is on the rise among America’s youth.
