DEUTERONOMY 4:30 "When thou art in tribulation and all these things come upon you, even in the latter days, if you will turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto His voice: for the Lord thy God is a merciful God, and He will not forsake thee."
Your Bible will prove from its beginning to its end that God knows all: Even the future to the end; as well as all the past.

Last week I went to a dear longtime friend’s funeral and it brought back many memories. We met years ago when we both worked on adjoining ranches and rode horses and drank beer together. So much it even became a big problem but one day something happened. A pastor from a small church came to my house and told me about Jesus Christ and what He did for me, (Romans 10:14&15).

Last week I attended a workshop in San Marcus. It was a time for preachers and other church leaders to get ideas about their work and how to be better servants for God.
During one of the evening services there was a family sitting in front of me. A blond headed little girl of about three sat in her mother’s lap.

A mother was very beautiful—all except her hands, which were shriveled and scarred and hideous. Her child was reluctant to speak about them, the time came when she asked her mother how the hand became so marred.
The mother told her how their house caught fire when the girl was very little.

I have to begin with the truth about myself this week. I have a child currently attending college who has already heard everything I have been writing in these columns. I can assure you that hearing the truth from your know-it-all mother is no magic bullet. She has had to learn from experience, just as I did.

Dear Editor:
I am saddened by the short-sightedness of the voters who voted no in the San Saba bond election that would have provided funds to build a new elementary school.
Are times tough? No doubt. But, in tough times, it is best to be in control and proactive. We had the opportunity to be in control of our school facilities and finances by saving 3 million dollars using zero interest bonds.

Holy Cow! Trying to garden this year is already stranger than usual, even for us. This morning it was 38.7 degrees here on our place at Oatmeal. Let’s see, it was high 90’s just a few days ago, so what in the world is going on. So many gardeners have already had to replant due to the late freezes, which took out the peaches in many areas (mine included).

One of the most important ways you can influence your child’s behavior when it comes to alcohol and other drug use is to model the behavior you want from them. Your child is watching and listening to you. They know when your actions align with your words and when they don’t.
A parent as a positive role model will have more positive effects on a child than any other variable.
