Recently I had the opportunity to work with a small church in another city. We took a chuck wagon, (original and over 100 years old) and set it up and shared the gospel with people at one of the top bull riding events. There were many top, (super) bulls and many world bull riding champions competing there.

Webster defines contentment as satisfied, willing. In our world today, we have many people who are not satisfied. There are some who always want something bigger or better. When they achieve it, they are not content any longer, but have to have more. Our world has convinced us bigger is better, more is the goal, and so, we buy into this and want more and more.
Paul stated, "Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.

A religious lawyer asked Jesus to name the first and greatest commandment. Jesus did not hesitate. He quoted the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy. "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might" (Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37).
Here is a word under this heading of love.

My thermometer read 103 today around 3pm. I guess that little cold spell is going to be a distant memory in a very short time. Dear Editor:
The San Saba public may not understand how much the alcohol election could expand the sale of alcohol in our community. People speak of having a glass of wine with their meal as if that is what the on-premise consumption is about. In reality, the option, as worded, would legally allow the operation of bars, pool halls, beer joints, and other establishments for the sole purpose of offering on-site consumption of alcohol.

Well, it's starting off to be a very hot morning and looks like it's just going to get hotter. We are all praying for rain while watching for smoke. I want to thank all the farmers and ranchers who could have burned and didn't this past weekend. The burn ban had been lifted but the conditions shot right back up to the extreme danger level within days after the one good rain we had.

During the 1970s the old lodge hall located downtown was in bad shape. The roof was leaking and the first floor, then a gift shop, needed repairs. Finances were definitely a problem as the local taxes on the building increased by twenty percent on 11 July 1970. Advertisement in the local newspaper was canceled and the telephone service was disconnected.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a good ol’ game of cosmic baseball, so let’s dig out the ball, bat, and gloves and head to that sandlot in the sky. If your childhood games were like ours, bases were objects of convenience making the diamond a bit catty-whompus. Home plate might have been a bare spot in the grass, first base an abandoned ant hill, and so forth.
In cosmic baseball we also make-do with what we’ve got.

Treasures From Grandma
My favorite chapter is called Cousin Agatha. It’s my favorite because it is all about how you should be kind instead of mean. You learn not to be deceitful or do what is wrong. When you are good, you get fun rewards. Treasures From Grandma has many other chapters, but nothing like this one.

As seamstresses, the young sisters, Emilia and Luzia dos Santos knew how to cut, how to mend, and how to conceal. These are useful skills in the lawless back country of Brazil, where ruthless land barons called "colonels" feud with bands of outlaw cangaceiros, trapping innocent residents in the cross fire.
