In the late 1960s, high-fructose corn syrup was introduced to the food and beverage industry. By 1985, it surpassed sucrose, or table sugar, as the most used sweetener in America.
High-fructose corn syrup is a popular sweetener because it is economical. It is a thin liquid that blends well with many food products.

Doug and Cyndi Suggs had a full house for Easter week-end. Monica and Samus Baisden, Tiffany Suggs and Keremy and Sheila Suggs were all visiting. They came for the "adult" egg hunt. Monica went home with the most prizes.Delton and Valerie McGuire spent the Easter week-end with their family. It was their granddaughter's first Easter.
Talli and Tori Morrison had fun at Mamo’s last week end.
|
Last week I was helping Cyndi in the kitchen and stabbed myself. Ouch! It hurt and bled. I stabbed the inside part of one of my thumbs. I did not see the knife that was sticking up in the drain board. I will look next time before I start jerking my hand.
Pain is something none of us care for.

Vacation. The very word has been foreign to Episcopal priest Tim Kavanagh, who has traveled across the Pond but twice. As an unreformed workaholic, he's used every excuse out there to stay put and tend his erstwhile flock in the village of Mitford.
Now retired, he's making good on an old promise to show his wife, Cynthia the land of his Irish ancestors.

A young man saw an old lady at the airport struggling with her bags. The young man came to the old lady and helped her get her bags to the location near the door where she said her son would come and pick her up. As he turned back to retrieve his own bags, the old lady said to him, "My compliments to your mother."
That lady recognized the young man had a good mother who taught him well.

It’s Sunday and winter blew back in to town! I had to dig out a long sleeved shirt! I was hoping the heat would cause a rain storm, but there will be no heat generated storm tonight. The skies are pregnant with unshed rain, but just not willing to give us the relief we need here in Richland.

We learned in Texas history class it took courage and sacrifice to gain and defend our sovereignty. Independence is won, not granted. Each generation has a duty to protect our precious liberty.
Sadly today, terroristic drug cartels are impugning the sovereignty of the United States of America on Texas soil. For many of our farmers and ranchers on the Texas border, independence and freedom are being compromised daily by violent Mexican drug cartels.

Dear Editor:
Once again we are forced to the polls for the purpose of defending our rights to live in a sober society. I am not shocked that this liquor election has been brought up again. It happens this way every time. If it fails in the first attempt, they will go at it again and again and again in an attempt to weary those who oppose it.

First, this Thursday we have the National Day of Prayer. Prayer and fasting was a part or our heritage even before we were a nation. For instance, in 1775 the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming our nation and in 1863 President Lincoln gave a proclamation for a day of "humiliation, fasting and prayer."

With the so much information in the news about state budget cuts, it is a good time to remind folks of how schools are funded. Basically, schools have two types of budgets, operating and capital projects. The operating budget comes from donations, funds from the federal government, local revenue from concessions and entry fees, revenue from property taxes and revenue from the state of Texas.
