There are different ways we approach life. For instance, there are some who are wealthy and can afford to buy anything they want. To them, everyone and thing has a price. They have the riches to get what they desire.
There are some who have been blessed with good looks. Others have had their looks altered to keep them looking young.

We had a nice surprise in the form of a thunder storm blowing through Sunday night. Along with some really strong wind and thunder, lightning and a little hail, it delivered 1.1 inches of rain here in Richland and an even inch at Elm Grove. It was most welcome and we are very thankful!
There were three tables of 42 players at the tournament last Saturday night.

The WWII Mark XIV torpedo was flawed from the beginning and was the US submarine’s standard fleet torpedo. It was designed in the 1930’s and not until many misses and duds that the reliability of the torpedo was questioned and even then the complaints were rejected. It looked good and in some minor tests it exploded but in combat it failed many times.

Luke 16:13:
"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."
Years ago the gospel was preached to a number of tribes in Central Africa. Many people responded to the message and became Christians.

Two weeks ago, this column was about the idea of doing a mental cleaning and simplifying—making sure that thoughts and actions are based on the simple truth. I mentioned how it seems our current culture is based on the clutter of untruth and manipulations.
My observation is that all of us are prone, at some time or another, to invest our time, energy, and emotions into various ideas that we accept as facts, without ever investigating their validity.

Red Eyes
Q: Why do so many birds have red eyes? I’ve noticed common loon, western grebe, Cooper’s hawk, and spotted towhees all have red eyes. I know of no mammal or reptile with red eyes. What is the evolutionary advantage of red eyes in birds?
A: Color qualifies as one component in the realm of biological information known as "nonverbal communication": the exchange of information between two or more individuals but without the use of sound.

Years ago a sailing ship was blown off course. They ran out of fresh water, and the passengers were dying of thirst.
In their darkest hour a ship approached them. Frantically they signaled, "We need drinking water."
Back came the answer, "Lower your buckets. You're in fresh water!"
What was true of the water is true of the Word.

April showers finally arrived Sunday night leaving 7/10 inch of rain around the Bend. The wind was up and blowing Monday, which means the little bit of moisture will be dried out pretty fast. The little bit was enough to wash off the cars and settle the dust for a day or two and clean the air which really smelled good Monday morning.
Still, a lot of fishing going on in the river with some good reports of yellow cat fish and some channel being caught.

What a week we’ve had! Everyday has been a display of the power of the wind. It sucks the moisture out of the air and land as it passes. Someone said Sunday that they knew the source of the hot, dry wind; it was coming from the politicians in the East.

With Texas being a national leader in cattle production, I recently coordinated an effort with 15 other state commissioners, secretaries and directors of agriculture to oppose federal proposals that could devastate the nation's livestock and poultry industries, and in turn, put our consumers at risk of becoming reliant on a food supply produced outside our borders.

Three Years later there were eight charges brought before the lodge by a member's wife. Brother I.N.M. had left for San Antonio, married in 1918, then moved to Dallas. The charges were basically for adultery, verbal and physical abuse to his wife and failure to provide for his family. While in Dallas he had also belonged to the (second era) Ku Klux Klan, and similar charges were brought to that organization without result in 1924.
