The world has had another tragedy. Japan was shaken by earthquakes and a tsunami. Our hearts go out to the people of Japan. The final death count has not been discovered and many people are homeless. It seems that more things are happening that are out of our control. Some of these things are tragic, as was the earthquake in Japan.
Over the years there have been many earthquakes and many other tragedies that have hurt mankind.

We are still waiting for that much needed rain with only a small chance for the weekend. Spring officially started last Sunday and the Mesquite trees are leafing out so it would appear that winter is over. However, Easter is still a month away and we quite often have a cool spell for Easter.

Leo Durocher was once asked who the all-time favorite baseball player he had coached was. He named Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes was a little known pinch hitter, not a really big name player.
Durocher was asked, "What was so special about Dusty Rhodes?"
He replied, "In a tight game when I looked down the bench for a pinch hitter, some players would avert their gaze and refuse to look in my direction.

Recently we had a church fellowship/dinner and I took a dish that I usually make, candied sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top. I put the sweet potatoes in a pot to boil but one looked a little different and shriveled on the end but I cooked it anyway. After cooking them I peeled them and tasted each one to see how they tasted, hmm good.

If cruise ships were circuses, there’d be no tents large enough for their hundreds of intriguing rings, many of them up and running at all hours of the day. The "big top" for vacations on the high seas is the sky.
This analogy came to mind as we sailed toward the Caribbean Sea from Florida’s Port Everglades on Holland America’s Zuiderdam for a 10-day cruise to the Panama Canal.

Spring break is over. I can hear the lamenting of students and parents combined with a few teachers. Now is last minute time for TAKS preparedness. It has been a great week for being out of school. The weather has been very pleasant, and the spring winds have blown the cobwebs out of winter minds, I hope.

One booming business in the fading U.S. economy is email fraud. Online criminals are using concern about the economy and chaos in the financial markets as an opening to defraud worried consumers.
These new scams typically offer anxious consumers relief from tax bills or an alleged chance to protect their savings from loss or seizure.
The scammers send emails in which they pose as a financial institution, government agency, or credit counseling service.
