Today most children don’t get enough exercise from running and playing. Children spend a lot of time on the computer and playing games on an xbox, etc. There is too much observation and not enough participation in physical activities. Children need at least an hour of physical activity a day.

Last week my wife went up to the chicken house to gather the eggs and as she started to open the gate she noticed a hawk walking wobbly on the ground. He seemed addled and disoriented so she brought him home and put him in a special cage we have near the house.

Haven’t we had some beautiful weather? After it has been cold and icy, the sun and short-sleeve shirts feel good. This is a beautiful time of the year we are entering. Outside our back steps there is a clover plant that has pink blooms on it. I thought it would not come back after the drought last year and the fact that we were gone some and it didn’t get watered.

What type of Christian are you?
Are you like a fencepost that has been planted in the ground that rots away in time due to idleness and isolation?
Or are you like a mighty oak tree that continually grows and develops deep roots in the Word of God and your branches spread out to reach others with shade and strength that comes from the comfort you yourself have received from God?
The Word of God is like a mustard seed within us.

People inevitably have questions. Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Some scientists, the X-Files, and movies like Mission to Mars tell us we descended from aliens. As far as these folks are concerned, the thought of God is alien.
Oddly, these individuals often long to penetrate the supernatural.

A thunder storm came up Sunday night with lightening and rolling thunder and very little rain around the Bend. One tenth was in the rain gauge. The Spring like weather is making the fruit trees start to put on a little green and of course what little grass around is getting green also.

What a wonderful Sunday we had this week. Actually, most of the week was very pleasant. It was not, however, pleasant for the farming community. We need rain for this thirsty land. The weathermen are teasing us with slight chances for rain, but I’m not holding out for any measurable rain.

The similarities of the San Saba Mob to a lodge are frightening. Each organization appealed to good men and met monthly. They both had rituals, signs, passwords, oaths and a penalty for violating their oaths. The similarities stopped there as this "dark Lodge" was strictly operative and not speculative. The penalty for talking was death and was applied to members and non members alike.

Feeder steers were $3 higher with some $5 higher. Feeder heifers sold $3 to $5 better. The packer cows and bulls were $3 to $4 lower after the last 2 weeks of sharp increases due to the extreme cold conditions around the county which limited the number that were able to move to the market.

I use to hear coaches say, "My job is dependent on the actions of 16 year old children." What a feeling to have the results of your efforts dependent on young people under the age of 18. Our education accountability if measured on quantitative measures in the same way: how many students pass, how many students receive commended, how many students take higher-level classes.
