I’ve spent hours, days and sometimes years consumed by worries, fears, anger, sadness, disappointment and depression. But lately, I’ve become determined not to waste my energy on things that I personally can’t change or do anything about. Have I become apathetic? I don’t think so. In all areas of our lives we have rules that we must live by. Sometimes we resent these rules. At other times we are glad they are in place for us. If there were no rules anyone could do anything one wanted and it would be okay, with no harsh consequences. Take, for instance, the rule that the laws of the land have stated about driving while drinking.

We have had a lot of chicken and dumplings weather this year have we not? To be honest, any weather can be chicken and dumplings weather, but when it’s cold, damp, and dreary, a bowl of chicken and dumplings seems like manna from heaven. Forget all the rules of nutrition and proper presentation—what is supposed to be required to make food appealing—things like color and interesting flavor combination.

I’m ready for some warm weather! I’m also ready for a good frog strangling rain! Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for the rain we have received, but the land is still very thirsty. I would love for God to send us some more. Another problem I see with all this cold weather is the food.
