HEBREWS 11:6
"But without faith it is impossible to please God"
More can be found concerrning faith than any other topic in the Bible. It is so emphasized it cannot escape the attention of any reader. Faith is very important, but it will become all the more important if the reader has a desire to please God.

By U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison
For many, the holiday season is truly the most wonderful time of the year. It is a time for cross-generational gatherings, when families celebrate old traditions and create new ones. It is a time for sharing memories, and a time for giving to one another and caring for the less fortunate.

Health professionals have been suggesting to us for several years to eat less fat, sugar, and salt and to eat more fiber. These recommendations are reflected in the USDA’s MyPyramid.gov website. One way to help you accomplish them is to alter your recipes. Most people either fail to notice much difference or accept the difference that results when the following changes have been made:
Reducing Sugar:
For cakes and quick breads: use 2 tablespoons fat per cup of flour.

Over the years comedians have been able to keep us laughing. Some of the comedians are very good at doing impersonations. Years ago Rich Little impersonated several people and if you weren’t watching him you may think the person being mimicked was present.
He appeared on the Johnny Carson show one evening and was doing some of his impersonations as he spoke.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
There was a ship ice-locked in Lake Erie. Though the captain of the vessel no doubt had made every effort to run ahead of the freezing waters, they eventually had encompassed his ship and immobilized it. Now he will have to wait for warmer weather or an ice-cutting ship to free him from his predicament.
Many people can identify with that ice-bound ship because that is exactly how they feel about their ...

This week before Christmas has been quite a ride for the Sheriff's Office. We have seen a large number of transports, district and county court, had an inmate in the hospital for three days, and numerous calls for service. I am very proud of the way the staff at the Sheriff's Office has stepped up and pitched in.

A water tower in Ontario, Canada carries a message of love. The announcement, which runs vertically down the 100 foot tower, reads, "Maggie, I love you." Underneath, it's signed, "Andy."
God has a Tower of Love. You'll find it on a hill called Calvary. There He wrote in his own blood, "I love you."

This holiday season, while many of us are fortunate to spend quality time with our loved ones enjoying the spirit of the season, there are many children across Texas and the country who are subjected to a much different experience. Child welfare officials and organizations often see a spike in reports of child abuse and neglect during this season, which some studies conclude is a result of the added financial stress of the holidays, more frequent use of alcohol among adults, and children spe ...

Tattoos are popular. People want to have marks on their bodies identifying them with mom or dad, some other person, organization, or cause. There are also earrings, nose rings, ornaments piercing other body parts. The Bible forbids tattoos. "You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord"

For the world’s half-empty drink glass holders—and they are legion—Philip Pruitt is 50 years deep into a "dad blame it," tough luck, short straw kind of life. He could understandably whimper, "Why me, Lord?" Wailing through all verses of life’s saddest song could well be his refrain.
Instead, this non-descript guy with the demeanor of Goober on Mayberry RFD, determination of Winston Churchill and faith of Helen Keller, takes the high roads.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone is ready for the big day. Mind you, if you work with the spirit of Christmas, or Christ Mass, then this should be an all year feeling. We should be looking for ways to share God’s gifts in June as well as in December.

Many well-meaning parents think that it is enough to take away car keys at their teen’s parties so the teens can’t drink and drive. Parents provide the alcohol or allow alcohol to be consumed based on the false belief that it’s a rite of passage, especially at prom and graduation parties.

There’s something about Christmas that has always brought dreams of all that I longed and hoped for.
And it seems I’m not the only one who’s had Christmas dreams. Clara dreamed of her Nutcracker Prince coming to life. Children had visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads. And others dreamed of home and a white Christmas.

We might be wondering if you were surprised as I was that ol’ man Winter was ushered in only a couple of days back? Heck, what with the sub-freezing mornings we’ve been experiencing the past few weeks, seems as if the season changed right after Thanksgiving. Speaking of Thanksgiving, seems like we might have some Turkey & trimmings left over in the freezer, and here we go, thinking of fixing some more of the same for Christmas dinner.
