1 Corinthians 15:44 "It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body." + 50 " Now this I say, brethren, That flesh and blood can not enter the kingdom of God: neither doth corruption inherit incorruption."
We will again take a writing from the great Apostle Paul for a message that should remove all fear concerning the death of our flesh and blood body.

Have you noticed all the food items on grocery store shelves with labels that say "Natural", "Organic", "Local", and "Free Range"? Often these food items have a higher price tag than their traditional counterpart. It can be very confusing shopping. One third of all new food and beverage products launched in 2008 made "natural claims"

Paul was on his way to Rome. The ship he was on was not able to withstand the storm and it broke apart when it hit a reef. Those who could swim were told to do so as they were near an island. Others grabbed anything that would float and made their way to shore.

Still no rain up our way and we sure do need it.
We were absent with the newsletter last week because there simply was not any news.
I spent last weekend with Lanell Parson and family in Bangs. It was fun watching little Hannah and her new kitten.
Marilyn Suber celebrated her birthday on the 19th by having the knee replacement surgery as planned.

We had a wonderful thanksgiving with all the friends and family and food and time together. We were so blessed but it got real interesting in meal preparations around our house. Everyone had to help or was given a certain job or assignment. I remember walking through part of the house and into the kitchen and seeing someone working on a task and others, maybe two or three working together on a particular project.

To the Editor,
With regard to the Richland Springs ISD bond election on November 2, 2010, which failed by 11 votes, I offer the following. Some of the proponents of the measure either were being disingenuous or simply were no informed fully about the tax ramifications of the bond measure. The contention that those taxpayers aged 65 and over would not experience a tax increase is true - BUT that is only part of the truth.
Generally, if the bond elec ...

If you read any of the columns I wrote last year around this time, then you know I am the Ebenezer Scrooge of hand-crafted gifts. Before you are too hard on me, remember that I am primarily a knitter and a quilter and those are the gifts I am reluctant to make for others.

Well we are very thankful for a safe and nearly uneventful Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We had neither fatality, nor any serious motor vehicle accidents during this holiday weekend here in San Saba. We also had very few arrests over this weekend as well. I was very glad to say that we did not have one DWI arrest this holiday and only 6 or 7 alcohol related citations were issued by the Sheriff's Office.

The weather was windy Wednesday until night fall, then Thursday it was on the cool side and Friday sunny but cool and Saturday it was down in the twenties, but warmed up after the sun came out. All in all it wasn’t just a bad week except there was not a drop of rain which is still badly needed.
The home of William and Jane Clark was a beehive of activity this past week.

In a land of make-believe, I’d refer to Mort as a "foster uncle," with hope that he might soon be adopted, taking his opinions, suggestions and cockamamie schemes along to "bless" some other family.
I was down to my last nerve a few days back, and my 98-year-old uncle down in the thicket stepped on it.

I had to get up and check the calendar to see if the date was correct. How in the world did we get to December so soon? I’m sure someone, somewhere, is skipping months and brainwashing us into thinking the year is almost over. I know; it’s the wind. It has blown so hard, for so long that it sped time up and we lost some days.

Texas Wages War on a $400 Million Feral Hog Problem
The last thing any property owner wants to pay for is damage caused by feral hogs. An increasing menace to urban societies, feral hogs destroy lawns, parks and even golf courses, and they are life-threatening hazards to Texas drivers. That damage, coupled with the extensive destruction to crops, fencing and other property, costs urban and rural Texans an estimated $400 million in damages each year.
Decreasing feral hog numbers in Texas is critical to the well-being of much more than ...

When I started this project, my intent was to compile a team of all-time players. From talking to people and coaches, it soon turned into a list of great players. The game of football has changed so much from the 1930s when Dean Bagley played to the modern game of Gary Gant, Jack Whitten and Tucker Cromer.

The Richland Springs Coyotes escaped Moody Field with a much deserved win over the Calvert Trojans last Friday night and a Final Four spot in the State Six-man Division II Tournament. The highly anticipated matchup between the two powerhouse programs lived up to its’ billing and will be rehashed by the old-timers and the six-man loyalists for years to come.
At a casual glance of the score, it appeared to be a horse race or a track meet, with both teams scoring at will.

The San Saba Lady Dillos captured two wins before the Thanksgiving break and took a well deserved hiatus from the basketball court. We played six games in six days. All I know is that we were about ten miles outside of Blanco the other night and the bus was "quiet as a mouse".

News from San Saba ISD Superintendent Leigh Ann Glaze
Many folks think that the University Interscholastic League (UIL) predominantly provides guidance and rule making only for sports. But, what most people do not understand is the rule making authority they have when it comes to academics. Most people know that the UIL requires students to be "eligible" to play sports; this is also known as "no pass, no play".
